Get to Know Karin
Karin Williams was introduced to Soroptimist by Alaire when she was looking for a way to get more involved in the community. Although she wasn’t sure what Soroptimist was initially, she indicated that she was “hooked” when she learned the Soroptimist mission was to encourage, empower and help women.
She has been active in several committees. “The Awards Committee has been the most ‘rewarding’ –literally,” said Karin. “I love to read the applications and learn more about the women and students. It’s amazing to see what some Live Your Dream applicants have overcome and how they continue to work towards improving their lives. The Del Oro students are remarkable as well. Seeing the teachers’ creativity and their heartfelt desire to help the students grow is inspiring.”
The Little Free Library is another project she enjoys. “I love the Little Library – the idea of people being able to easily access a variety of books and just explore is wonderful,” said Karin.
Karin explained that her profession is in Information Technology (IT ) Management. “I started in consulting out of college and then had the opportunity to work at Roseville Telephone as a Business Analyst in IT,” said Karin. “Over time, I had the opportunity to manage a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts. I now have folks across all time zones! Together, we work on a wide variety of company initiatives from launching new products/services to increasing operational efficiency to regulatory compliance. I am constantly learning, which is my favorite part of the job. I’ve been with Consolidated for 29 years and I can honestly say I have NEVER been bored!”
“I like that the Loomis Soroptimist club truly makes a differences in people’s lives,” said Karin. “I’m constantly impressed with those who lead the club and are driven to do all that is possible to help others in the community. |
